ABOUT THE AUTHOR

A passionate belief in the importance of history in order that people might understand their present as well as their past and a life-long love of the sea have come together to produce the five books in this series entitled The Bitter Sea.

That delight in history first dawned in John Bright Grammar School, Llandudno, from which David Leedham went on to Bristol University, graduating with an honours degree in the subject.

The first part of his professional life was spent teaching history in Ellesmere Port Grammar School for Boys on Merseyside, after which he became head of department at Ysgol Bryn Elian in Colwyn Bay, North Wales, and then in Ellesmere Port again at what was now the Whitby County High School, Cheshire.

David Leedham lives on the borders of Wales in Chester, Welsh Caer, where his family has had a long and distinguished history, and where he in turn is a keen campaigner in the fight to preserve and enhance the city’s rich architectural and historical legacy.
